There are many ways to handle the formal dances. One popular way is to choose one song and have the bride / father dance at the same time as the groom / mother. Another way is while the bride is dancing with her father, the groom could dance with his new mother-in-law and then during the groom/mother dance, the bride could dance with her new father-in-law. There can be one dance just for your parents. Also, half way through any song, you can switch partners (for example: the bride dances with her father first and then her stepfather for the last half). Be sure to let your DJ know of any cues and changes. Another possibility is halfway through a song, all the guests can be invited to the dance floor. All "mothers and sons" or all "fathers and daughters" can be invited to join you 1/2 way through a dance with your parents.
